Watched Old Guard Movie on Netflix with Charlize Theron

I watched the Old Guard movie on Netflix with Charlize Theron and Chiwetel Ejiofor and it was pretty decent time-killer. The movie is around a group of individuals who live very long lives, and also retain their youth. The head of the group is Charlize Theron (known as Andy / Andromache of Scythia), and 3 others – including a couple.

The Plot (Old Guard Movie Spoilers Ahead)

As a group they have mostly taken the responsibility of doing through the centuries and millennia. This usually involves getting into wars (on the good people side), rescue work, or any good Samaritan work. Since they practically live forever, and the world is fast being digitized – it is difficult form them to stay anonymous and as such they have a rule of not taking a job twice from the people they have worked before.

The story moves forward with them accepting a second job from the same people , which was as a setup to discover their true nature and getting caught red handed as they die and come back to life. The organization that set them up is a medical company that is led by unethical and greedy CEO who wants to unlock their immortality at any cost. During this, our team of immortals also discover a marine KiKi Layne (Nile Freeman) who finds out that she is also an immortal (a new one after 200 years) and her struggle with the new reality.

My Take (3/5)

Without giving any further information away, I found the movie to be gritty and decently satisfying. I will say this, I have always liked Charlize Theron, and she doesn’t disappoint – she does a great job depicting an ancient weary warrior who is made of steel and the action in the movie was very likable.

If you have free time, I would definitely give this movie a watch.

Old Guard Sequel

This movie is also trending in Canada and am wondering if there are going to be additional sequels to it. I would really love a sequel set in the ancient days with Charlize and her old crew.

Other Netflix Shows I am Currently Watching

I am close to finishing up the Warrior Nun which follows a a sect of nuns dedicated to fighting evil who are led by a woman who bears an ancient artifact belonging to the angel Adriel. After the death of the leader nun during the beginning of the show, this halo device now falls on a quadriplegic woman who died to only be brought back to life by the angel’s halo.

Also, will be watching Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander. The action scenes in the movie look quite gritty as well
